Lake Harbor Dental in Boise’s North End is Your Trusted Authority for Invisalign in the Treasure Valley
For many years, traditional metal braces have been the go-to method for correcting a crooked smile. With Invisalign, not only are you benefiting from a corrective dental alignment system that’s not only virtually invisible, but also one that doesn’t require monthly visits to tighten wires. If you’re looking for an easier care alternative to traditional braces, Invisalign may be right for you.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a newer development in orthodontic treatment. Instead of traditional metal brackets and wires that require monthly visits or cut up your mouth, Invisalign uses clear, unintrusive acrylic aligners that gently move your teeth into place.
Even better, those who use Invisalign are not subjected to food restrictions. When it's time to eat or brush, it's as simple as removing the retainer and going about your normal routine restriction-free.
The average treatment period for Invisalign patients is 12-18 months. Compare that to traditional metal braces, which have to stay in for a minimum of two years.
Is Invisalign Right for You?
Despite popular opinion, dental issues such as overbites, underbites, and otherwise crooked teeth are not solely those of teenagers. Adults can suffer from these issues as well, even if they wore traditional braces as a teenager.
Adults who use Invisalign have found they system to work well with little to no impact on their daily routine. And with the Invisalign for Teens program, swapping out the retainers is as simple as waiting for the dot on their existing retainer to fade before swapping it for the next one.
Invisalign and Invisalign for Teens uses multiple removable retainers over the treatment period that slowly move your teeth into place, which makes monthly visits for adjustment unnecessary.
However, the most common obstacle that would-be patients may encounter is the cost. Invisalign is more expensive than traditional metal braces, and some insurance providers may not cover the entire cost. If you have any questions, feel free to give us a call at our Boise office. We’ll help you figure it out.
Considering Invisalign? Here’s What to Expect
If you're considering making the plunge with Invisalign, the first step is the initial consultation. Our friendly staff will help you with scheduling your appointment with one of our dentists, which is the perfect time to ask any and all questions you may have regarding the program.
If both of you agree to move forward with Invisalign, it's time to setup the second appointment. This is where images of your teeth are captured and put into the Invisalign software, which then builds a custom treatment plan based on your own individual needs.
Armed with this information, offsite Invisalign technicians will create the optimal amount of custom-fitted retainers you will use throughout the treatment period. Once they arrive in office, one more appointment will be scheduled to provide care instructions and answer any questions you may have.
